Changes towards May 2015

As we move forward towards the May 3rd campaign for 2015, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read this blog.. I also apologize for not posting regularly.
As I was going through the previous posts, it got me reflecting on why is it that I am not posting enough...What I found was that besides laziness being a cause, it is also because I am primarily typing out Sensei's guidances that have encouraged me and not adding the important link that SGI members bring in. This link is the reason we attend meetings, the reason it is so importance to practice with the organization, the reason we need each other:
- To Understand How One, Personally, translates Faith into Action.

The intent to stick to official content was to ensure that what goes on this blog is our mentors' guidance and not a my limited interpretation or misinterpretation of it. But that by itself is not working.

So this year, I intend to take this blog to the next level. While I will stick to posting Sensei's guidance, I will add a bit of 'me' to it by sharing personal realizations/determinations/experience I may have had with regard to that particular piece of guidance.

That will help me make these posts more interesting for you, and add value to your life. It will also help me stay motivated to blog with the hope of adding more value to you.
Wish me luck!

Control our Time, not be Controlled by it.

It is commonly said that we should control our time rather than be controlled by it. If we're stressed out, it's easy to feel pressured by time.
President Ikeda: Yes, that's why it's importnat to have a strong life force. And we can gain that kind of life force from doing gongyo and chanting daimoku.
Nichiren Daishonin writes: "It is the power of the Buddhist Law that enables the deities of the sun adn moon to make their rounds of the four continents".
The Mystic Law is the ultimate power underlying the unceasing operation of the universe. By chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, we can cause our lives to brim with that infinite power.
If you've got a busy morning, it's all right to just chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo three times to the Gohonzon. Chanting sincerely and strongly is what matters.
Remember, you have at your disposal the most powerful tool of chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. So even when you're busy, don't forget to chant. It will let you greet the day filled with life force as vibrant and dynamic as the rising sun.

How to Stay Happy When You Are Busy

Some members have asked about what they can do to stay happy and inspired when they are busy.

President Ikeda - "When you are striving to improve yourselves, your life is open to absorbing all kinds of things, and you can derive that much more meaning from everything you encounter.
That is why, precisely because you are busy, I hope you will take every opportunity to expose yourself to things of positive value, things of beauty. you will be inspired, and that emotion will serve as spiritual nourishment, broadening and enriching your hearts and minds."

The Human Revolution - The Meaning of the Practice of the Lotus Sutra

In his speech, Toda penetrated to the heart of the Mystic Law, and then warned the participants against
reckless action.
"I will not ask whether you are sincerely practicing, because propagation is something
you should carry out of your own initiative. Instead, I want to ask whether your businesses are doing well, whether you are making money, and whether you are enjoying good health. Nothing pleases me more than to see that you are showered with benefits. You tell me you are practising and are involved in the propagation campaign, but as long as you remain in poverty, you cannot call yourselves my disciples. Ours is the faith through which one can carry on a flourishing business as well as improve his family's living. Those who think only about the faith and neglect their work are flouting the teaching of Nichiren Buddhism. Through our vocations we contribute to society and thus have the chance to manifest the power of our faith. The Gosho states that doing your best in any task is itself the practise of the Lotus Sutra. -

Who is The Truly Valuable?

"THE real greatness of human beings lies not in being active on the gorgeous stages. A person who lives his/her life to fulfil his/her own mission, whether in a remote region or in some inconspicuous field of society, is the most valuable person." - Ikeda Sensei
